Welcome to Chauvin!
Located 275 km (170 mi) southeast of
Edmonton
and just 10 km (6 mi) west of the
Saskatchewan
border, this quiet prairie community was originally settled in 1908, when the
Grand Trunk Pacific Railway laid tracks to the area. Chauvin quickly became a
bustling trade and distribution centre and now sustains itself via agriculture
and oil and gas production. The close-knit farming community is proud of its small, friendly village, where everybody knows everybody and rush hour just doesn't
exist. In sharp contrast to the hectic pace of the city, Chauvin's rolling countryside
and genuine village ambiance appeals to visitors looking to experience the traditional
side of
Alberta. As guests enjoy
exploring the community's peaceful streets, they should be sure to stop in at
the
Chauvin
and District Museum for a peek into the area's pioneer past. And “Susie”
the
World's
Largest Softball always welcomes a photo opportunity at the entrance to the
village.
